Localize is all about sharing stories at the shelf edge, but we also go behind the scenes to get to know our registered vendors. We love finding out more about the farmers, ranchers, and producers who bring fantastic products to our store shelves – and we think you will too! Meet Gail and Roy from Metropolitan Chef, creators of amazing, delicious seasoning rubs.
Local to: Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
For Chef Gail McCully of Metropolitan Chef, life is about spending quality time with friends and family, and sharing delicious, good-for-you food. What better way to build happy, healthy communities!
Nearly fifteen years ago, when Gail couldn’t find the types of spices and rubs she was looking for on store shelves, she used her chef training and wealth of experience with international cuisine to create spices and rubs that minimize sodium intake, cut out the calories, and are simple to use. Gail and her husband Roy have been sharing their seasoning rubs with happy customers ever since, and they have come to be known as “Spice Mistress” and “Spice Boy.”
Metropolitan Chef has been part of the Localize family since 2014, and their products can be seen in stores in British Columbia and Alberta. They have recently announced that their seasoning rubs can now be found in olive oil tasting bars across Canada. Find out where you can buy them here, or you can order online.
All of the Metropolitan Chef recipes are made on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. They are gluten free and made without additives, preservatives, or fillers. Gail says their goal is to produce healthy seasoning rubs that compliment and bring out the natural flavour of food with no marinating.
